I'm an American woman living abroad with her family, currently posted in Riga, Latvia. I began quilting in 2015 with a "ninja star" quilt for my then 5-year-old son, and although work and family life mean I can only work on sewing projects little by little in stolen free moments, I am loving quilting so far and hope to continue as dedicatedly as possible!

Sun and Shadow quilt
This is the second pieced quilt I've made, and I'm so happy with the results that finishing it has definitely motivated me to start working on some new projects as soon as possible! (Funny how that happens... :) ) I'm excited to start sharing projects here and seeing everyone's great work!

Ninja Star quilt for son's 5th birthday
This is the first quilt I ever made. MSQC had a daily deal for Ninja-themed charm packs, and my son was obsessed with Lego Ninjago at the time and about to turn 5. It seemed like the perfect confluence of events to motivate me to take the plunge and try my hand (and machine!) at quilting. Not all my corners line up quite right, and doing the quilting on my home machine was much harder than I expected (so much turning, so little space!), but the most important thing is that my son loves his cute-and-cool-at-the-same-time quilt, and snuggles under it happily ever night.

Birthday Quilt for my daughter
My daughter was still too young to be able to keep a complicated pieced quilt clean and safe, so I made her this simpler whole cloth quilt instead but tried to add some pretty hexagonal quilting with my home machine. It's the second thing I quilted at home on a normal, nonspecialized quilting machine, and it was still really hard work! I very much admire all of you who are able to make complicated patterns with quilting!! For now, it's still baby steps for me!

Arrows "Hit the Mark" quilt
This was made from a pattern in the BLOCK magazine and turned out to hand nicely over the edge of a double bed. The LAQ used a daisy motif because of the daisy border.

Scrappy Quilts
We moved so this motivated me to get my scraps "under control." I ironed, and folded, putting them in little shoebox tubs, and with the real small pieces either cut little squares, or rectangles. These two quilts are the results of doing that. I have been learning to free motion quilt on my home machine. So I marked these and tried to follow the lines.

My Disappearing Hourglass 2 Quilt
Ever since I saw the tutorial for this quilt, I wanted to make it. I made this for one of my husbands cousins. Not knowing her house colors, I chose red and white since they are Cincinnati Reds fans. I'm not very good at FMQ, but if you don't look too close, :) it came out pretty good. I'll be sending it off after I show it to my quilting friends.
