After several years away from sewing, my dear cousin convinced me to start quilting. I finally jumped in as I've always wondered if i could quilt. I needed to get my hands going again, so I decided on a Jelly Roll Race design. I've always wanted an elegant Christmas Quilt to drape over the back of my sofa next to the tree, and I think I've finally found the perfect one! Double Slice Layer Cake Christmas Quilt

No story, just wanted a Christmas quilt to drape over my sofa and snuggle under in front of the fireplace while watching Christmas movies. Honest Abe

I found the pattern in an old Good House Keeping book I found in the library, I was struck by the beauty of the quilt and the uniqueness of it as well. It took me 2 years to finish it, I also had to change the star blocks to update it I didn't want to do all those little pieces so I simplified the block. The name of the quilt comes from the history of the pattern, the book states that Abe Lincoln's mother made this quilt the year he was born in 1809.

Wild Dresden Coin

I love bright colors and wild prints just as much as I love more traditional collections. I purchased two layer cakes just waiting on the perfect pattern and found it in the Dresden Coin. I did make mine longer than the MSQC video instructs. This will fit a full size bed with plenty of drop on each side. My only problem now is that all of my daughters love this quilt and are begging me for it. :)

Pumpkin Patch

I love the rich, warm colors in this little hanging! It makes me think of everything I look forward to about fall, like growing pumpkin with my little girls. I also love that I can display it from September through November. The original pattern from youcanquiltthis.com was for a pillow, but it takes on a whole different look when framed. Wedding quilt

My nephew and his fiance' are going to be married Sept 12, 2015. I decided I would make them this quilt. Luckily I had started this last Fall. In Feb and again in April I needed eye surgery. This summer I was plagued with eye problems and feared I would not be able to finish it. The wonderful ladies at MSQC long armed it for me. I just got it back and by the Grace of God I was able to see well enough the sew the binding on it. The pattern is Lakeside Dreams from the book Fat Quarter Five by Heather Mulder Peterson. The material is from Susan Winget line by Legacy Studios and some scraps I added in to it. The label was one I saw on Pinterest and added my own touches. I am very proud of this quilt!
