I've been piecing and quilting on and off for more than 40 years. I've been the most prolific in the last 10. I've always loved choosing colors, fabrics and patterns, often changing them a bit to suit my preferences. Learning free motion quilting has really changed my productivity. I love being able to complete all the steps in creating a quilt. My fabric collection continues to grow and I don't see that every changing. It's part of the process. I do enjoy challenging myself to try new techniques, next one up is collage quilting.

Pyper's Place
I wanted to make a quilt for an expecting mom who is distant part of our extended family, but every baby needs to have a quilt made for them. Color palette was limited to pink, grey and gold., an unusual combination. Found a pink jelly roll with gold accents on clearance and combined that with pieces from my stash and watched Jenny's Crosswalk tutorial a couple of times. I usually have trouble following directions exactly and tend to make things my own way, don't most of us do that? I was very pleased and it was fun to quilt, the strips sets got wishbones stitched on them, the squares got star flowers and the border has random designs. Finished it up the day Pyper was born.

Matt's Hunter Star
Made this for my oldest son. He's my outdoorsman so the Hunter's Star was perfect for him. I used a lot of blues and oranges from my stash and Jennifer Sampou's Feathers in Smoke. I cut my own charm squares except for the white background, those were Kona White. Jenny's Hunter Star tutorial was very helpful in completing the piecing. I add an additional row and column and added multiple borders. The final size was a very generous queen size. This is the first quilt that I quilted lots of feathers on, after a lot of practicing.

Flying My Geese Home
I loved the idea of this quilt when I saw Jenny's video tutorial. I knew I'd have to make one. I used a Tonga Treat pkg in Creamsicle, a grey from my stash for the geese. The border was a print I found at WalMart and just loved the big scale print. The center of the flowers was a very bright yellow that didn't quite work with the muted colors of the batiks so I fixed that with a permanent marker in a muted pink that made a lovely orange shade over the yellow. The piecing went together quickly but I didn't get to quilting it right away. Am glad I waited. My quilting is constantly improving so I'm very pleased with this one. I do like to use up the big pieces in my stash for my backings, I like them to be interesting too, this one is pretty bold.

Tennessee Waltz
I made this quilt for my sister for Christmas 2017. The pattern is called Tennessee Waltz and she is 110” square. There are a total of 81 blocks that are 9” finished and 6 borders, including a pieced border. The best part is that she is made entirely from scraps! I didn’t buy a single cut of fabric to make this quilt (except for the backing). I had a ton of scraps in my stash and lots of partial precuts that I had no idea what to do with. Then, lightbulb! This beauty was born.

Brown Circle/Log Cabin
I started this quilt in Hamilton, MO, while on a retreat at MSQC. It's different because this pattern is usually done in solids.
