“Latte Love”

I created this quilt for my younger daughter for Christmas 2017. It is the first quilt for her from me. I used Coffee House by Debi Hron for Henry Glass for the double slice blocks, Kona snow, and cotton supreme solid-Notting Hill for the borders/binding. I pieced and FMQ on my domestic machine using Aurifil 2309. I really love this fabric and she loved her new quilt!

“Enchanted” Chevrons

I created this quilt for my older daughter for Christmas. (Her first quilt from me. Her first quilt was her baby quilt made by her great, great Aunt Lois Westen) She has loved Beauty and the Beast since it came out when she was a child. She also loves the color pink. I used Koda White for the background and 2/3 yard cuts of multiple cotton and batik fabrics for the chevrons (6-10” squares) pieced and quilted on my domestic machine. The quilt finished at 79”x90”. It was truly a labor of love and she loves it!

Texas Two-Step

I have a very special brother and I wanted to create a very special quilt for his birthday this year. He is a cowboy at heart and used to ride horses for his job with the police dept. He is quite the two-stepper and used to dance a lot when he was younger. I collected numerous FQs last year keeping in mind his quilt. I decided on the Falling Charms design and used a Texas charm pack, fat quarters, Kona solids, and Aurifil thread. I FMQ it on my home domestic machine. His birthday was in February. He loved it!!

Jardin de diamants

I decided this year I would make a quilt for each of the adults birthdays. I started this quilt in 2015 for my husbands step-mother so I finished it and gifted it to her in February for her birthday. I used a layer cake of French General-Le Bouquet Fracais and Kona solids. FMQ on my home machine. It finished up lap size.

Birthday on the Green

I made this quilt for my father for his birthday in January of this year. He has several hobbies and interests but golf is a long time passion for him. I used On the Green by Bristol Bay Studios for Benartex, Kona snow, Aurifil thread, 100% cotton batting, and the bordered square pattern but used 10" squares instead of 5". I FMQ on my home machine and hand stitched the binding. After washing/drying it finished 70x80. It was a fun project and my dad really loves it.

One Fish Two Fish... for Dillon

One of our friends celebrated the birth of his first Grandchild and the mom and dad are big into fishing. So after browsing the MSQC site I found this FQ bundle with panel and knew it would fit the bill! I cut 3 inch strips and bordered the panel pieces. (And because I'm a little OCD/picky all the words had to face the same way. HA!) It was fun to piece the strips and make it scrappy. This was the first time I used a stripe for the binding and I Love it! I will definitely be using stripes for the binding again in future quilts. After washing/drying finished size 39x50

I SPY for Madison

My high school best friend's DIL had her first child, a little girl, and I wanted to make a quilt that would go and grow with her. I have been wanting to try an I Spy quilt and decided that this was the perfect opportunity. I used a variety of scraps, I spy, and fun material for the 5x5 blocks. It turned out crib or car size 34 x 40 inches. FMQ on my home machine. I used the disappearing 9 patch method to make the pattern. It was fun and fast.

Ethan's Chevrons

My sister came to me with yet another request! Her friend is pregnant with her first son and the theme for the nursery is "geek" so, my sister bought 1/3 yard of 18 different geeky fabrics. (Star Wars, Harry Potter, Marvel, Minnions, cartoons) I cut 2 10" squares out of each fabric piece and made hst units and then made a twin size chevron quilt and had enough hst to make a pinwheel crib quilt, and a hst changing pad, and with the scraps I make scrappy car seat quilt and 3 burp pads. All in 3 weeks! My sister was thrilled. The Mom was totally thrilled as well. And I am pretty happy with how they turned out too!

Joyful Hearts

One of the young couples in our small group at church were expecting a baby in March 2016 only the little one decided to make her grand entrance 12 weeks early. I didn't get her quilt finished before she was born but she is doing well, gaining weight and should get to come home from the hospital next month! Yay!! The quilt was made from my stash FQs and yardage with a scrappy binding and bright floral backing. It measures 39.5 inches square after washing it. I FMQ it on my domestic machine. It's labeled, bound and done! I'm happy with how it turned out. If I use this design again I might add a different color sashing and cornerstones. It went together very quick and easy!

Patchwork Garden

My sister called me and asked me to create a baby quilt for one of her friends. The only catch was I only had one week... Ha! I took on the challenge. I use the 'Double Slice' pattern thinking it be quick and fun. And it was! I use FQs from my stash, cut them in to 10" squares and followed the pattern. After washing it finished at 43 inches square. My sister loves the bright colors and is sure the new mom-to-be will also. It's only the third quilt I have FMQ and I am feeling more confident. It isn't perfect but it's done!! And I'm happy with how it turned out.
