Hunter's Star
Pattern #PAT1207 from MSQC. Jenny did a tutorial on it. My 6th quilt, made during April -Sept 2016. Entire quilt is Cotton + Steel Basics Collection, the main colors, the background and backing fabric. Finished size, 87" x 88", a little bigger than the pattern. Quilter's Dream wool batt. Free-motion quilting by Camlyn Quilts in an edge-to-edge pattern called Slinky. It shows best on the backside. I made 4 pillowcases to match. I fell hard for the Basics Collection and thought it would be great for Hunter's Star. I started with charm packs, pulled out colors I didn't want and then filled in with yardage to make it more my colors. After all the squares were done, I layed them out on the carpet, rearranging until I was satified. I took black and white photos to check the light vs dark clusters. I put on a tiny 1" border, as I really love an edge-to-edge full pattern look. Lesson learned: fabric with a huge metalic component is way heavier than regular quilting fabric, and 9 yards of it for backing adds a lot of weight to the quilt. It was on sale for $6/yard though, so...cool! I do love a sale on yards and yards of backing fabric. posted 09-22-18
