Anne's quilt
Our best friends are moving across the country to Kelowna, BC. I decided to make them a quilt using Jenny Doan's Half Square Triangle Around the World quilt. They are/were extensive travellers so it was perfect.
I was able to use an old quilt frame that was left on my front porch by someone, no idea who, once my son and husband found the hardware that was missing. (It came from the Frank A. Edmunds & Co. Inc and was sold by Sears in the '70s) It was definitely easier than using the hoop I had used for all the other "pre-printed top" quilts I've made.
I purchased a layer cake in the colours that Anne loves, and used a matching flannel for the backing. I decided on flannel, because Anne has recently been diagnosed with MS and I thought the quilt would be warmer and cosier on her legs when she rests.
My son helped me figure out the marking for the quilting pattern, and my 5 year old granddaughter thought I should use "crowns" in the corners of the black border. My husband couldn't believe I would be able to finish "all that stitching"!
So now it's done, washed and ready to be delivered this Easter weekend when we visit. (They live 2 1/2 hours away!)
I hope they both enjoy it.
