I have been sewing all my life making clothes for my children, however four years ago I was introduced to quilting by my friends mother who was a master quilter. I have been in love with it ever since. I quilt on a budget as I am a widow and have to count my pennies. I have fun making all my quilts but I have more fun in the giving them as gifts

A Memory quilt for John

Dresden Quilt
This traditional quilt was made with scraps of 1930's fabrics in my stash. The blades were machine pieced and the plates were then hand appliques to the background squares. The fabrics in this quilt remind me of my Grandma Nan and Great Grammy Rose. These women were the angels who taught me to sew, knit, crochet and embroider. My Great Grammy Rose was the quilter in the family and my Grandma Nan made beautiful garments and crochet. This quilt is a tribute to them.

My Purple Dreamland
I decided to make this quilt from a picture, a nine patch quilt. I started making this quilt before watching tutorials, before buying patterns, before knowing about another world out there, the Quilting World. After my first Quilting Exhibit, I was hooked. I started researching. This quilt started as a Quilt-As-You-Go and I finished it as a Fun and Done. Tonight I get to sleep under my Purple Heaven for the first time. I can not believe how accomplished I feel at this moment. This has been the best lessons that I have learned in a long time and I am having fun. I know I am not done because I am planning a quilt for my son, Wonky Window. Also If I have time I want to make another quilt for my nephew and his bride, Goodnight Irene. I am addicted to the creative process. I can't wait to see what I can make next.

Buggy Barn Table Topper
I absolutely love this flannel fabric. I bought this piece to see if I liked working with it and it was a hit! I think I'll make a quilt out of 9 of the panels. The lady that does the long arm quilting for me quilted around the pattern, which makes it look even more like applique. This is a very quick project!

Abby's Quilt
I made this quilt for my great-niece. It's a jelly roll race but I inserted white and colored squares, one, two or three at a time. I also varied the length of the strips. The strips were in a package clearly marked as being 2-1/2 inches, but they were really 2-3/4. With the added width of the strips and the extra squares I inserted it turned out to be a pretty good sized quilt. Best of all, my niece loves it.

The family collected the names of friends and family members....75 lines of names, and they were all machine quilted into the top. It is good to know you are surrounded by friends and family, while you are in treatment.
