This is my first "bigger" quilt...made with flannels. I have made several smaller lap quilts. My friend quilted it for me because I was afraid to try to do it myself. I am determined to learn how to use her machine and do it myself next time!

Rosewood Lane - A Quilt Pattern!

Introducing Rosewood Lane, a quick and easy quilt that is truly a weekend project for twin and smaller quilts. I love that it looks scrappy yet is made from one block which makes for quick chain piecing. Rosewood Lane includes instructions for six sizes from wall to king. Fabric requirements are given in fat quarters, and the pattern also includes a chart detailing how many pieces of each size to cut if you're sewing a scrappy version. The cover quilt is a twin made from Just Wing It by Moda. This pattern is available for purchase here: http://bit.ly/ShopBusyHandsPatterns

Picket Fence Pattern in 6 Sizes from Wall to King

I am super excited to introduce Picket Fence to you! She is the second in my budding line of quilt patterns! Picket Fence is a versatile pattern that looks great in many fabric collections! Sweet pastels or bold, masculine prints are perfect for Picket Fence. The cover quilt is lap size in PB&J by Basic Grey. The pink, yellow and green version is the original Picket Fence in Spring quilt from 2012, making it up as I sewed. This quilt is the reason I named the pattern Picket Fence; it reminded me of a white picket fence on a lovely spring day, thus the name, Picket Fence in Spring. Recently I was asked about the pattern through my Etsy shop, and I decided it was time to write it! This pattern is layer cake friendly and comes with instructions for six sizes from wall hanging to king! The pattern includes fabric requirements for using layer cake squares or yardage. It also includes mock-ups of all sizes in various fabric collections so you can see what each size looks like when finished. You can find this pattern in my Etsy pattern shop: http://bit.ly/ShopBusyHandsPatterns

No More Monkeys

Having completed the E Z Mariner's paper-pieced block from the 3rd edition of Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks series of magazines, I wanted to use it in a small quilt. The quilt design evolved from things I was learning both on the web and in my quilting group including: mitered borders, introducing varied shapes for tot to learn, improvising blocks. Having already put "10" monkeys jumping on the bed instead of the more common "5", I just stayed with a double helping of hi-jinks.

Jane's Star

With this fun, large blocked quilt I found a way to use my animal prints. Had fun adding a design tweak by putting shapes (circle, rectangle, triangle, and square), in contrast.. with half encompassing the critter in their corner. Also, what fun to finally use my remnant bin leopard print purchase for the binding. The monkey print for the backing is flannel.

A little project to try out some new skills. What a neat way to recycle an old book. I doubt that I would carry it as a purse, but it would be a nice place to put some little hair baubles for my granddaughter.

Rising Star / Super Nova

This quilt was made for someone who had a rough year in 2018. It hasn't been gifted yet as I am making one for her mother who has also had a rough 2018 and I want to gift them together. My best friend from High School has a long arm set up and she did the quilting for me on this piece due to the size. The pattern is super simple and available freely in several places online. It's basically all Half Square Triangles, its the color lay out that takes all the time. I spent at least a week moving color squares around.

For the Lover of Red

This design was our "beginner quilt" for the quilt group I joined in 2011. My daughter, who grew up in Japan, was beginning to show a distinct preference for the color red. I decided this, my first by-the rules quilt, would be for her. So, my fabric search included colors and prints I knew she might appreciate. She had no children at the time, and though the quilt is not quite large enough to be a lap quilt, I assured her it was not a baby quilt, either. I list it here, however, as baby quilt because of it's size. The mini version of this is also pictured among my completed projects.

Doggie Fun

This is being donated to an animal fundraiser for their raffle. I was having the hardest time coming up with a color choice for the borders. I took the panel to my local quilt shop for suggestions. Love what we came up with and it was from the clearance section..a win, win!
