I have been holding onto 4 Egyptian prints for so long that I can’t even remember where or how I got them! I have almost tossed them many times, thinking I’d never find a good use for them. I got a new neighbor a few months ago and she invited me over for a visit...I spotted some Egyptian figurines, and she told me that she had spent 3 months in Egypt and loved it! Her birthday was Dec 31, and I was determined to make her a throw for her loveseat. She was so pleased and excited that I would do that for her, and I loved finding a home for those fabrics. I used the Hourglass Wreath tutorial with just a few changes.

Cottage Stars

I lived in Oregon for a couple of decades and had some awesome quiltie friends, but then moved to Florida. With Covid keeping us all at home, not traveling, we decided to do a block exchange...we all made 8 cottage blocks and then we mixed them together and redistributed them to each other. Oh, and we used Christmas fabrics, since it was late October! I just love how cheerful the runner turned out. I added some trees at each end, and loved making the wonky stars!

Florida Meets the Northwest

Last fall (2020) I fell in love with making houses..and I also love trees, so it only seemed natural to combine the two when I needed a wallhanging to cover a window on an exterior door. I spent a good portion of my life living in beautiful Oregon, and currently live in Florida. I love the brightly painted houses here, along the Gulf, so of course my houses had to be bright! I love the effect with daylight behind it...looks a bit like stained glass!

June MiniMadness

I joined a mini-quilt challenge created by Pamelaquilts to keep us occupied during June of 2020. I used mostly scraps and have actually got another version of this quilt started, using batiks. The finished size is 21 1/2” x 25”. The blocks are 3 1/2” unfinished. I love the sampler aspect of it.

Whale Tale

I made this quilt for my cousin Katt who is a very creative jewelry artist who has a line of jewelry called Whale Tails. When I saw the pattern Whale Tales by Sew Kind of Wonderful, it inspired me to make my own version of it. I added the sun, and changed the overall dimensions.

Linked up

I made this quilt in 2018, as the first one for me to keep and use. Up until then, everything I made was given as a gift to family and friends! I loved putting it together and used precuts for the main body that I bought from MSQC. The tutorial was theirs, too. I do my own free-motion quilting on all of my quilts, and each one is a learning experience. I entered it into my quilt guild’s 2020 Quilt Show and was pleasantly surprised to have gotten an honorable Mention ribbon! It’s a bit small for my current bed, but I still love it!

Love Letters From Home

I made this large throw sized quilt for my sister-in-law about a year after my brother passed from esophageal cancer. She had mourned him and had started going on with her life, but I knew she still missed him so much, and our family, too. In the border, I free-motioned “love letters from home”, and some hearts, so she’d always remember that she was loved, even though we were far apart. I used Jenny’s video, “Love Notes Star”, but the video wasn’t found below, although it is when you go to the MSQC tutorials app.

Winding Ways

This quilt was made with the Sew Kind of Wonderful Quick Curve ruler. I was signed up for a class that got cancelled due to Covid, so I used scraps and figured it out at home, then made this out of the blanks I had already cut for the class. Mom liked this one, so it was an early Christmas present!

Skelliwag

The pattern is called Indigo Spin and the fabric is a mixture of Skelewag and Lost at Sea by Alexander Henry. I made this for my husband who has been so supportive of my quilting, he even looks up where the quilt stores are when we visit somewhere new. I started this 2 years ago when I was too naive to realize how hard sewing curves were going to be, but I finally plowed through and got her done! And LAQ always hides a multitude of mistakes too, which helped.

North Star with LK wagon wheels

This is another quilt for a friend, kind of a housewarming gift for their new retirement place. It's a North Star (MO Star tutorial) quilted with Lori Kennedy's wagon wheel pattern. The quilting was made to recede into the background on the front but since the back is dark, it really popped! Happy surprise!
