Irish Chain
I used up some scraps from a Jelly Roll of Simply Style to create this Irish Chain. These are my favorite type of quilts - just scraps! I photographed it by the harbor of 99 Islands (Kujukushima) in Sasebo, Japan. The opening credits of 'The Last Samuri' were filmed here!

Janet's Quilt
I think this is the Devil's Claw block. A friend found an almost identical quilt in a thrift store and bought it. When she showed it to our quilt guild, I got chills. I asked permission to copy it, and she agreed. I was able to match the orange fabric. I took a photo of her quilt and measured the blocks. My quilting is different from hers, and there were some mistakes (maybe on purpose?) in her quilt, which I didn't copy. She didn't want me to copy the quilt exactly, and I figured I didn't need to put in mistakes on purpose, as there are bound to be some anyway. 2004

Rainbow String Quilt
This was my first string quilt, made entirely from scraps. My scraps are sorted by color, so it was easy to create blocks by color. I didn't have a plan when I started making the blocks;I was simply experimenting with foundation piecing. This quilt makes me smile every time I look at it; of dozens of quilts I've made in the past three years, it's by far my fave! It hangs in my sewing room.

Stairway to Heaven
When he was younger and still living at home, my son and I used to enjoy playing music together. He played guitar and I played the keyboard. Our favorite song was Stairway to Heaven. He asked me if I would make a wall hanging for him and so to honor his 49th birthday I made this for him as a memorial to those great musical times we had together. I love to quilt, really love whole cloth quilts and am mesmerized by Zentangle. This is a combination of all three and a lot of love. I have to say, stitching with heavy black thread on cream fabric was more than a little daunting!

This was a gift for my daughter's now exboyfriend
I wanted to make a really special quilt for my daughter's ex-boyfriend (boyfriend at the time I made it). He had acquired his captain's license. This is what I gave him for Christmas in honor of his achievement. I think the Mariner's Star was quite appropriate.

Wedding Quilt for friends
i have a dear friend who's daughter will marry in August. They are lovers of nature so I thought a Bear Paw quilt was appropriate. I googled "Images" online and found this design. It is an easy layout to copy. I used scraps and stash in the colors the bride and groom are using in their home based on an image of a rug that is in their house. The bride's mom said the colors in the rug are carried throughout their home. This quilt is probably about twin-size. The Bear Paw block measures 10" finished.
