I grew up with quilts my mother made me and always cherished them. We moved around a lot, but I always had the blanket my mother made me. Quilts symbolize love and security to me. I am passing that tradition on to my 5 children. I have made them quilts and also make "Family Quilts". Family Quilts are those thrown on the couch to snuggle up in, laid out on the floor for story time, or used to make forts. I put a label on the back with a little message to my kids and the date. I am passing this tradition on by teaching my girls how to sew. I have them help me coordinate blocks and fabric, and explain the importance of color value and math in sewing. Quilting is such a beautiful and useful way to add love, devotion, and care to the nature of your home. Everyone benefits from this and makes for a harmonious, thoughtful home.
