I feel I'm somewhere between a beginner and intermediate quilter. I wish I felt more confident with fmq'ing, but I do love the piecing work. My favorite size quilt to make is baby, lap or throw.

My Happy Quilts
Using a a tutorial I found on line at psIquilt.com, I started making these happy quilts using scraps. Then I got addicted to buying brights. These are perfect quilts for a new baby, a thank you, or a sick friend. They are just so cheery.

I found this tutorial on line a few years back. I love the freshness of whites and brights. I enjoy working with brights as they are cheery. This quilt is for a friend who is 49 and pg -- she is over the moon. Since the baby is a big surprise, they chose not to find out the gender. My daughter asked me to make a baby quilt for a shower that was coming up quickly. I chose this pattern because It would be easy and not take long. We knew it was a boy, but I'm pretty committed to not making "baby-baby" quilts. I always like to think of the child growing so attached that the quilt goes off to college with him/her. Hence, the color selection.

Paper-pieced boats centered in a Storm At Sea block. This was for Dad. He was in the Coast Guard and then a career longshoreman. He now sits in dialysis three days a week and he says it gets cold while he sits there. Now he has a quilt and a fabric hug from me while he is there.
