I have been sewing since I was about 12. About 3 years ago, I bought an embroidery machine and have had lots of fun embroidering. I want to learn free-motion quilting and just signed up to take a class later this month. Sewing is my therapy.

I hand-pieced this quilt top years ago before I went to work. After I retired, I had the top machine quilted. Each block was quilted separately and a darker thread was used so the plain blocks would show off the quilted pattern.

maple leaf quilt
This free quilt pattern was on the cover of Family Circle magazine on March 8, 1977. I began working on it several years later and finally finished it about 5 years ago. I ironed stabilizer to the fabric to give it body and then cut out the leaves. I used a tiny zig-zag stitch to applique the leaves to each square. Each square was hand quilted and then the sashing was added. I machine quilted the sashing.

The Ribbon Box Quilt
I made this RIBBON BOX QUILT, by Cloud9 Fabrics for my new granddaughter. Her mom requested mint green, peach and gray colors. I added a touch of yellow. There are no "blocks" in this pattern. It's made by creating rows, piece by piece, with no borders. The straight line quilting was done by a LQS because I'm still not the best at FMQ on my domestic machine. It was definitely one of my favorites...so much fun to create!

SHOOTING STAR WITH MY PAWPAW'S TIES
In 2001 my Pawpaw passed away, and I was just starting to learn to quilt. I had never made a tie quilt before, but I took his beloved ties and made this Shooting Star Tie Quilt. I gave it to his youngest daughter. It was a labor of love.
