Mom's 80th Birthday Quilt
After learning to piece, machine stitch and taking a class for free motion stitching, I decided I wanted to learn to Long-arm Quilt and I had a special project that I wanted to be able to say, "I did all of this myself!" This quilt was going to be bigger than I wanted to tackle moving through my starter Brother sewing machine so I really wanted to do it on a long-arm. I found someone willing to rent time on their machine and provide me with a lesson to get started. While I am determined NOT to tally up what I spent on the quilting...counting the lesson, the zipper ends, the multiple hours of rental and the parking garage payments!!, it was well worth it to be able to give my mom this quilt in honor of Mother's Day and her 80th birthday...I showed her the finished top at Mother's Day and then was able to get the quilt to her while she was in the hospital the summer before her 80th Birthday in September. She loves it and has it in her living room even though "it doesn't match her sofa:)"
