I have always loved playing around with fabric. After my kids arrived, I wanted to make them something they could treasure forever, something to keep them cosy and safe, so I started making quilts. They have used their (many!) quilts for everything: snuggling, tending to sick toys, making dens and forts. Their quilts are well used and are meant to be. Wash, dry, love...repeat!

The Koi Quilt
I made this quilt for my daughter and husband. They love koi fish and when I was visiting them, they took me to a park in San Francisco where I was able to take some pictures of koi swimming in a pond. The fish were printed from my photos on white linen. I added some fabrics and then painted them with fabric paints and appliqued them onto the background "water" fabric. I decided to enhanced them with thread. I added the large waves and borders. It was quite the project and I was pleased with the result...and they loved it!

This quilt was a little bit time consuming piecing all those 1" inch and 2" squares together. But the effort and time was all worth it, my grandson who loves playing minecraft absolutely loved the quilt, he especially loved the back which I made just like the "portal" in the game.
