Mom's Last Quilt

This is the quilt I made for Mom's last birthday; she loved homespun and plaids so I appliqued hearts onto alternating blocks. I made it narrow and long to fit her bed. After she got it, she immediately took a nap under it and loved it. After she left us a few weeks later it remained on her bed until I realized the sun was fading it and took it for storage.

African Wind

This started as a log cabin made from a jelly roll. I didn't have enough blocks so I used some African animal prints as alternate blocks and a pieced border. I quilted it with a wind-invoking pattern. This is one I love but seldom use, since I don't want to get it stained!

Indian Puzzle

One of my first quilts, I collected fabrics for it for almost a year. Each block is the same pattern, just different colorations. It was patterned in QuiltMaker. I quilted it with a Janome MC 800 in an early Grace Frame.

Civil War Take 5

I saw the take 5 pattern and liked it, and had all these reproduction fabrics I wanted to use. I wasn't entirely pleased with the result, but I donated it to an auction to raise money for a family in need. For some reason I made 2 centers, so I still have one I need to finish for myself!

Pond in the Meadow

Inspired by a jelly roll of batiks. I made all the blocks then then realized the only thing I had that matched for a border was an echinacea print from Micheal Miller. It looks like a pond in a meadow of wildflowers to me, so I use it in the dead of winter to remind me spring's just around the corner!.

French General Inspired by Jenny

I saw a French General Garden quilt in a magazine well after the fabrics were discontinued, and realized I could do it with a layer cake and some yardage. I found the layer cake on ebay, and some yardage in a closeout bin. It's a bit different from the original, but I love it. Still need to QUILT it, of course... Thanks, Jenny, for helping us think outside the box. In fact, I think in pre-cuts now!

Bought this on ebay at a great price; someone had started it then lost interest. I loved the convenience of pre-cut pieces but the downside is missing pieces. See if you can find where I improvised!! Loved this quilt; the quilting was some of my best. I gave it to my brother last Christmas.

The idea started with a quilt in a magazine, then last year with the Disappearing Pinwheel tutorial the idea gelled. We swapped squares of fabric that had an autumn theme. Sirocco is the name of an autumn wind in the Mediterranean.

Mom's Phoebe's Flower Box

This quilt was made for the Iron Quilter 2 contest. Just a way to make myself get a quilt done prior to the night before gifting it. It was a Christmas present for my mom. Pattern calls for jelly rolls, but I used charm squares. Just made it a little more time consuming, but still love the way it came out. I machine quilted it on my long arm, free hand.

Dragonflied

One of the classes I took taught this dragonfly. I was really excited, because my friend had moved to Dallas and I was going to visit her. She loves dragonflies. She loves to decorate with them. Summer Table Runner

I DO NOT KNOW WHY THIS IS ZOOOMED IN - SORRY! This is how I discovered my husband was a fabric "savant". He not only picked out the fabric panel, he picked out the coordinating fabrics for the border and then WOWed me by picking out this batik for the background. I was floored. It was the gateway to us enjoying this hobby together. He's since picked out many fabrics for future projects, even has one of his own planned from BLOCK magazine - the houdstooth quilt.
