just put together my first disappearing 4patch. was very interesting and i love the result. but i have to laugh.. i put 4 of them back together backwards compared to all the rest.. - in this experiment i only had a finite number of squares to work with & thought i had a disaster in the making.. then i started sewing the blocks together.. so now i have a lap quilt & a pillow cover.. i call it Serendipitous Chaos... :) the lap quilt (before sashing/binding) is 3 by 5 8inch blocks the goofed up pillow cover is a 15 inch square made of 4 8inch blocks.. not sure what binding will be but am surprisingly happy with the result.

Crazy Rails

One of "THOSE" projects lol in the begining a post i made in a quilt group..... " VERY VERY frustrated/irritated this a.m. and not sure what went wrong. i was following a youtube demonstration on a design. followed the instructions to a "T". === cut strips to the required 1.25 by 3.5 - then sewed 4 strips together to create blocks. as shown on video. the next step is to sew blocks together in strips.. the photo is the result when i lay them down into a strip. i dont 'see' how this is going to work" then a bit later...... "well, what ever it was i did wrong in my cutting measuring this morning, i am NOT going to toss the pieces to start over.. sooo.... after thinking i decided that since its pretty much a scrappy/crazy thing ANYWAY... why not keep it that way.. so i just put them together and trimmed - and yep they are wonky but seeing assembled i 'like' them haha.. i then realized i did NOT like the size they were going to make the bag (too big) so i took off two pieces and finished assembling this portion - still have to do side two but am happier now.. see what you think.. of my 'Crazy Rails"

Chloe's quilt

Used a jelly roll for the first time. Decided when I was half way through sewing the strips that it would be a lovely quilt for our niece for her 21st Birthday. Only the 2nd time I have completed a quilt using FMQ. Large meander with pebbles in the dividing strips. Quilted using Marti Michell's quilting in sections technique on my small Janome machine. I'm starting to enjoy FMQ.

Luck of the Irish

From the "Make Your First Quilt" book, (McCall's Best of Quilting), Paradigm Shift Pattern (by Janelle Cedusky). This was an easy (and Fun!) beginner project. The tricky part was laying out the blocks to get the off-center design. A more contemporary design, really fun picking out the black & white fabrics.

Schrader's Healing Quilt

This quilt was made especially for a friend struggling with mental illness. The fabric is Batik, created using a centuries old technique allowing for artistic freedom as patterns are applied by actual drawing or stamping, rather than by weaving with thread. Each piece is truly unique with characteristics all it's own. Like Schrader. Browns and Copper represent the Earth, the Blues and Ivory represent water and sky. I wanted to reflect the warmth and power of the sun, the calm and soothing sound of the waves with my free motion quilting designs.

Twinkling Stars for Christmas

Mom taught me to sew at the age of 10. She is an accomplished seamstress and quilter. Over the years she has made quilts for 8 of her children, 25 grandchildren, and 30 great grandchildren, numerous friends, and charities including Habitat and babies of addicted mothers. Now however, at 90 mom can’t quilt anymore because she is unable to leave her bed. I wanted her to see that her tradition lives on, each stitch sewn was a testament to my love for her and all the wonderful blessings she has given me and so many others.

No Longer a WIP Alter Ego

My Work in progress is now at the quilter. I finished the borders on Monday 11-27-17. Prepared the backing the next day. Took it to the quilter on Wednesday 11-29. I am planning to give it for a Christmas present so I will be burning the midnight oil to get the binding sewn on i'm slow.. The quilter said he should be finished by Dec 15th. I used Julia's Garden by Northcott Fabrics by Deborah Edwards. It is a 30's print for sure. That is where it is located at Fabric Depot. I gave this to my daughter Sarah for Christmas.She bought the layer cake for me to make something so I told her I would make it for her and she said oh no just make what ever you want. So I did.
