First quilt
After watching Jenny and Vanessa- AKA The crafty Gemini, I wanted to give paper piecing a try. This is what I came up with goes great in my dinning room.

I learned to sew on this quilt. Everything involved was new to me- from using a rotary cutter, making 1/4" seam allowances, putting on a border (or three) sandwiching, quilting, using a walking foot, and the binding, From start to finish, I looked up each new step as I came to it or watched a video on how to do it. I was able to complete the quilt before Christmas 2014 and give it to my kiddo as a present. He loves this quilt and I love that it is keeping him snuggly warm in our bitter cold winters here. This quilt is a keeper and will stay in our family.

I was inspired by Jenny's tutorial and the very next day Summer Breeze 3 was the deal of the day. It had all my favorite colors. It was fate! I ordered my layer cake and waited on pins and needles for it to arrive. When it came it was so beautiful. I got right to work on it and am so pleased with it. I made it for a very special niece. I hope she loves it too.

Lauren's Birdie Quilt
This is the 2nd quilt I made. I used the 3 Dudes pattern and a fat quarter bundle from JoAnn's. The backing is leftover faux suede that I had used to cover some chair cushions for my daughter Lauren's living room. It's quite a bit thicker than regular quilting fabric, so instead of a regular binding, I just folded it over to the front of the quilt, folded it in about 3/8" and stitched it down. I was too dumb and inexperienced to know that's NOT how it's done, LOL! But Lauren loves it; it's very warm with that faux suede backing, and she's been using it a lot during this brutal New England winter!
