Moonlight Over Daisy Garden
Kate, my niece was named for my mother and so the story begins. Mother passed away 35 years ago and my niece is full filling mother's dreams-she loves yellow, she planted a flower garden, she grows her own veggies and the similarities go on. Making this quilt that my mother is still looking in our her family from heaven. And this was my first paper pieced pattern- Debby Katrovil.

My son requested his beloved football team quilt. After several months the t-shirts came to me in mail. I thought he had sent the garage rags. The t-shirts had lots of wear and a few tears, but they are his favorite. So I set out to design the quilt center with only 3 t-shirts. Then I added some applique pieces and cathedral windows, lots of pin wheels little embrodiery and quilted it with warm and natural and fleece backing. The quilting is freemotion quilting on my Janome 7700.

Paper-pieced boats centered in a Storm At Sea block. This was for Dad. He was in the Coast Guard and then a career longshoreman. He now sits in dialysis three days a week and he says it gets cold while he sits there. Now he has a quilt and a fabric hug from me while he is there.

Stairway to Heaven
When he was younger and still living at home, my son and I used to enjoy playing music together. He played guitar and I played the keyboard. Our favorite song was Stairway to Heaven. He asked me if I would make a wall hanging for him and so to honor his 49th birthday I made this for him as a memorial to those great musical times we had together. I love to quilt, really love whole cloth quilts and am mesmerized by Zentangle. This is a combination of all three and a lot of love. I have to say, stitching with heavy black thread on cream fabric was more than a little daunting!

Made with Burlap Solids jellyroll. I tried to go from light to dark like Rob did on his Man Sewing Tutorial, but it wasn't working out well with all the colors in this jellyroll, so I decided to just mix the colors up. Rather than doing the piano keys border, I decided to add a wide black border. This quilt goes together pretty quick. Thanks for the tutorial!

Modern shades of grey and green
There are so many new grey and green prints appearing in quilt stores right now. I wanted to do a simple symmetric design to show off the ones I was collecting. This pattern allowed me to keep the quilting in straight vertical lines with accent lines in the sashing using a decorative stitch with a variegated green thread.

Midnight 'n Sunrise Spring
