After watching Jenny's Make a Christmas Table Runner Using the Large Wedge Tool, I was inspired to make some as Christmas gifts for family in 2020. They were very well received and I enjoyed thinking about each family as I made them. I made seven total and when my husband asked which one was ours, I realized that I didn't make us one.
I watched Jenny and Misty in a tutorial "Make a String Quilt" and wanted to use scraps from two quilts that I made as Christmas gifts. They were very different colors but I put them together anyway. Wanting to make it go fast, I decided to make much larger blocks than the 10 inch size in the video. I used non coated parchment paper
I had some 2.5" squares of fabric in Studio 8 for Quilting Treasures, so I made a topper for a new bathroom cabinet my husband completed on 3/7/2021. For 18 years, I had been using a plastic cabinet I purchased from Lowe's, but it had started to fall apart. There is a space between our sink cabinet and the tub, so it is a perfect fit for that area!
I followed the Stars and Pinwheels pattern which I purchased from Missouri Star Quilt Company. They also have a tutorial which I referred to as well. I quilted it on my domestic sewing machine using diagonal serpentine lines. I backed it with solid navy fleece. The fleece made it quite a heavy quilt so it was a bit tricky to quilt! I think it’s probably a large twin size. I used mostly Kansas Troubles fabric, some new and some leftover from previous projects.
