Morrocan Tile enlargement

I found a wall hanging kit named Morrocan Tile in a quilt book. I ordered the kit but did not like the colors. After living 3 years in Italy while my husband was in service I knew from visiting the markets that no decent Morrocan would use brown in a quilt. I then located what I thought of as Morrocan colors. My husband does not believe a quilt should do anything but lay on a bed so I made a king.

Kyle and Talya's Wedding Quilt

For my two older children, I knit something special, that they requested, for their weddings: a beautiful silk lace shawl for my daughter and a Celtic lap blanket for my son and daughter-in-law. My youngest child/son is getting married in November 2016. They haven't asked for anything so I made this quilt (top). It is QUEEN size! I'm sending it off to MSQC to finish. Taylor's Quilt

This is a graduation gift for an awesome young man who just graduated with a master's degree in history. His plans are to teach High school and coach. He fits right in with the family, when you already have six kids, what is one more. :-) I am so happy with this quilt. Hand Up Stand Up 2016

I made a patriotic quilt to donate to the 2016 Hand Up Stand Up benefit ride for our local VA hospital in Topeka, KS. The money goes to a couple of areas including the PTSD ward. I am so blessed to have a husband involved in the ride and thought I would get involved also by providing a quilt to have auctioned off. Falling Stars ~ Pattern in 6 Sizes Baby to King

Falling Stars is a quilt pattern I designed that includes instructions for 6 sizes from Baby to King, including 2 Lap sizes. The smaller lap is ideal for kids and shorter people, and the large lap fits tall people very well. The size of the HSTs in the quilts increases as the size of the quilt increases, so the bed quilts have larger HSTs and are thus faster to make yet still stunning. Qbert - Arcade Game

I attended a class on this pattern (Arcade Game by Jaybird Quilts) on Saturday, July 23. I left with the sidekick ruler, fabric (a pre-packaged set of Kona solids) and pattern. I cut it out that evening and put it together on Sunday, July 24. I found the backing fabric at the quilt shop the following Tuesday, and ended up dropping the quilt off at my favorite long armer in early August. They used a different quilting motif for each color block, repeating it throughout the quilt. It’s great!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

A quilting buddy gave me this Christmas panel last year but being a 'newbie' at quilting I didn't know what to do with it. Then I saw the MSQC attic window tutorial and problem solved - except I didn't have any concept of how large it would become. Way too big for a wall hanging so I decided to add some blocks to the side, and an outer border to give it more width and I have a Christmas snuggle quilt! I used silver metallic thread to quilt snowflakes on it.

Erika's Paint Box

Most of the time, when I start a quilt, I don't know who will be the recipient until I'm halfway through. So this quilt is going to be Christmas gift to my son and his wife. She is an art teacher, and as I began making this quilt, the more I looked at it, the more it reminded me of watercolor bricks of paint...thus the name! I used the MSQC illusion pattern but used layer cake 10" squares. Then I added one giant shadow to make it look like the whole top had a shadow, because the quilt needed to be King-sized. I tried to make it look like the sun was shining on the upper left corner, down to the bottom right so it followed the light spectrum of a rainbow...red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet.

The Purple Elephant

I had decided to stop taking custom orders for quilts because its no fun to HAVE to sew. Just a couple weeks afterwards a repeat customer asked me to make her the Elephant Abstractions for her in purples. Halloween Cats

Halloween is my least favorite holiday, but for some reason at our recent quilt guild meeting when they were giving away some free fabric, I picked up a piece of Halloween fabric. It was orange candy corn on a black background. The next day Jenny's Pins & Paws tutorial was in my email. When I saw it I knew I had to make it as a Halloween quilt. I ordered the Layer Cake "Come Sit a Spell" from MSQC and used the candy corn fabric for the border. I love how it turned out!

Lato's quilt

This quilt I made for my son-in-law with direction from my daughter. He wanted something heavy so I put poly beads between the top and the batting. It was a challenge to sew because it was so heavy. 15 pounds! The pattern is called Strip Twist and is made with two jelly rolls of Woolies Flannel Colors by Bonnie Sullivan.

Simply Sparkly "RAINBOW"

I saw this pattern somewhere on FB & a woman was showing the quilt she had made from it. I got the pattern right then, like I usually do, then opened the document & read the instructions. "Gee," I thought. "It sounds so easy." It called for parts of 3 jelly rolls but I wasn't about to tear into 3 brand new jelly rolls & destroy them by using only part of them. In fact, I've now made 7 variations of this quilt pattern & I've yet to need more than 2 full jelly rolls. Of the 7 I've made since May 6, I've given 3 away, sold 3 & am currently working on one to put in my daughter's Hope Chest for her first grandchild. (Waaaay down the road as her older daughter isn't quite 8 years old yet!!) It's All About the Fabric

I had a design roll of Kaffe Fassett fabric for a couple of years and didn't know how to best use it without cutting the pieces up too small and losing the glorious fabric designs. I decided that diamonds would be ideal and the black sashing would make the colors pop. I've never made a diamond pattern before and I didn't even have a diamond template to use! So I used my 60-degree triangle ruler to make the shapes. Sewing with biased edges was tricky but I'm very happy with how this quilt came out. I used a beautiful blue fabric for the backing.

Christmas Ribbons

The idea for this quilt came to me two years ago when I made this same pattern in pastel colors for my new granddaughter. All I could think of while sewing hers, was how beautiful this quilt would look using Rober Kauffman Holiday Flourish fabrics. I am very proud because I quilted this myself, using metallic thread in the ribbons and doing the wavy free motion quilting in the background for the first time.
